Our CD player

Does anyone know if our 6 disk changer will play wave files burned to a DVD. I was cleaning off a hdd and got over 900 MP3's on a DVD. I was wondering if I burned wave file to a DVD:

1) would they play
2) how many files would fit

Any answers would be appreciated.

Before anyone says anything.. I know about disk welder bronze. I'm not concerned with preserving the 5.1 surround. I just want the music.

ok dont quote me on it .. but i dont think that will work. as CDs have a defined format. eg. an audio cd is technically a Data CD with a bit different file system.

I dont think there a a format like that for DVDs.

but hey as you said .. you know disk welder, you might be able to squeeze a LOT of mp3 in stereo, using disc welder. I hope you are aware, the a 3 MB mp3 = 60 mb WAV approx .. so Wav wont really help you here, yeah but haveing a DVD - A disc without 5.1 sound, will greatly help as it still deploys some sort of Lossless compression

Your question about MP3s ... No, it will not. A DVD would store a lot of MP3 files but useless to the ELS. You would have to convert MP3 to WAV and use Discwelder to make a DVD-A disc. This link should help you out Discwelder

You can put regular WAV files onto a DVD and it will play on our TL's stock audio system. The catch is that you have to make them into DVD-audio discs using a program like discwelder (mentioned by Hawhyen51) or wavelab.

You can fit up to 99 songs onto a disc. I'm not sure if it's 99 songs per disc or album. I've never made a disc with 99 songs (ran out of space), but with dual layer DVD's you should be able to put far more than 99 songs on a disc.

I used wavelab and made about half a dozen DVD-A's and they all work. Only one with more than one album.

When creating a DVD using Discwelder or similar software, will our TL read dual layers?

I don't think it (04/05 HU) supports dual layer media and besides, it is DVD+R DL. The HU has problems reading +R media.

They are called groups you can store 99 songs per group on a dvd-a and you can have multiple groups on a dvd-a. To switch between groups you hold the scan and repeat button together.
