ok i just got the avelectronics unit.....
for who ever has put this in there car...it says its a plug and play unit so does it mean that all the installer that i will bring it 2 is going to do is plug it to the back navi?or does he have to take off my dash to get to the back of the actuall screen or anything like that which involves taking of the dash???? please reply i got 2 know because then i wont install it risking more rattles!??
From what I understand, you cannot play DVD movies using the in-dash DVD-A/CD player. The player is just not set up to output a video signal to anything. Plus, I think that DVD-A data is encrypted with a form of copy protection different than average DVDs (CSS). You would need to hook up an external DVD player to the avelectronic unit.

You are correct, you can not play dvd video through the indash DVD-A Player. With this unit installed there is an INPUT for a DVD Player (which you will also have to buy). And as for installation the installer WILL have to remove the entire dash to get to the back of the screen (assuming that is where the "plug and play" plug attaches). It may also attach somewhere in the trunk to where the NAVI membrane is.
No you don’t have to go behind the dash. Everything is connected in the back. You will need to buy a DVD player that will connect to the avelectronics unit though in order to play DVD’s on your navi screen
