Oil Monitor

I recently took my car to a quick lube for a fast oil change but my oil monitors still shows 30% oil life.

Is there something the dealer resets to bring to oil monitor back to 100%?

Read the manual, it tells you exactly how to reset the Oil Monitor

I forget thge exact procedure, but you reset in the MID display. It is really easy. Like was said previously, your owner's manual has the procedure. If you can't find your manual, I will run out the garage, grab my manual and type it in for you here.

Actually it's quite smart...

You must remember the system doesn't actively monitor/analyze the oil.... It's just another piece of software in the onboard computer. It analyzes numerous engine parameters, your driving characteristics, temperature etc. all to come up with a determination of oil life remaining. And yes, it's all based of of conventional dyno oil. Although, most manufacturers normally want you to change the oil at their intervals whether synthetic or not.

I myself however change every 4500-5000 miles with dyno oil. This usually equates to about 40% remaining indicated on the MID given my driving.

Cheers

I am at my sister's house to purchase my "brand new" 2006 TL from her. She had the oil changed before I drive it home and the MID still shows 70%. I can't get it to reset. I follow the steps in the manual, but I cannot find a way to isolate the oil life monitor. The problem is that the trip meter shares the screen (above the oil life) and keeps resetting - not the oil life monitor. What's up? Am i really that bad with electronics?
