Oh XM ...how could you?

Well, I guess even XM has bills to pay that the $10 per month subscription won't cover. Driving in this morning - laughing it up with channel 150 (comedy) and a ... breaks my heart to write it....and a COMMERCIAL..yes, I said COMMERCIAL comes on for Chevy Silverado trucks!!!! WTF? Thought this was commercial free radio??????

Pretty soon all the dumb DJs and radio personalities will jam it up too and we will have basically 2 FMs - at least one will still sound better.

At least the commercial could have been for an Acura

The XM talk and news channels have ads, but they're mostly there to fill the slots left by the TV feeds. Compare this to over the air radio, though, and it's night and day. On average, commercial radio stations include 22 minutes of ads and promos every hour. Give me XM!

PS - Why isn't Don Imus broadcast on the MSNBC channel each morning? He is on DirecTV!

Just wait until the 2005 baseball season starts and Xm broadcasts the games. No doubt those channels will have WAY more commercials.

That would have been my ONLY reason for going to XM (or any satellite radio for that matter). I can't stand the number of commercials on the radio.

Now - satellite is no different??? I guess I'll have to switch to books on CD...

You should be lucky that Sirius came along. When XM first came out only 33% of it's music channels were commercial free. When Sirius started and announced that all music channels were commercial free, XM had to compete to they went commercial free for music channels. I knew that XM was only commercial free on music channel and not everything else going in to getting XM so you must have missed that when signing up.

Damn Canadian Gvmt.

We up here in Canada just wish we could take advantage of the XM radio. Our damn Government and its insistence on all things Canadian.. (no matter they are just our version of
all things American...) ixnayed XM. So now I own a car that was originally built with it standard (with connection fees I know), but couldnt get it ... they are starting with "Oh lets see if we can get some kind of deal worked out so XM can come to Canada." Can't win up here...

XM never said that anything other than the music channels were commercial-free.

TL 42 If your car has an actual XM radio receiver in it you should be able to recieve the signal unless the sattelite footprint does not cover your area in Canada. I would call XM radio to find out.

Good luck

You have it correct, my friend. XM just says that 'many are commercial free'. And my music channels have been just that. Try the regular radio's music broadcast in the morning, in comparison!

I'm not signed up. My point was I would rather go to a service that was completely commercial free over one that allowed commercials.

There is no way they would be able to provide a completely commercial free service without drastically increasing the subscription fee. My problem isn't necessarily that they have commercials, its the lameness of many of the commercials they have. Most of them are "radio" versions or infomercials. It's funny how sometimes a phone number appears on the display, but if I were to try to call them (using the HFL) the number would disappear before I could call it.
