Not much $

I am only 18 so I don't have too much to spend on a sub/amp. My stock sub rattles so I think I may have pushed it too hard. I'm only looking to spend around 200 bucks. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

did you get your tl new? if so take it to the dealer and see if they will replace it for free.

i am not sure about the later models but on the 04 the amp has some funky spikes in the signal when the vol goes up past 35 so listening to 36-40 on vol will eventually kill your factory speakers.

as for sub on budget if you can find a basslink II for cheap 150-200 and a loc you can install yourself or with a friend. for that much.

Unless you can install/already have amp kit installed..cut your budget in half at the very least. Let us know if you have anything already or know how to install...

Also, DO NOT try a "craigslist installer" as a member already experienced this crap. Let a trusted friend do it or do it at a reputable shop.

I'd get a descent 4 channel amp and bridge two channels to run a small sub in a box. You can use the other two channels to drive new fronts when you get around to it. Basslink is a waste of time IMHO. I had one in a previous car and wouldn't go that route again. You're probably looking at closer to $250-300 once you buy an install kit and all the bits you need though. If you get an amp that can accept high level input, the install should be super simple.

We did buy the tl new. It is an '05. I'm looking to remove the stock sub to install an aftermarket one. Has anyone done this or can it be done in the same place as the stock sub. Any pictures would be helpful. Thanks

On that budget..brand, power, etc isn't important really. Only thing is what's available used in your area lol. Or maybe even DIYMA or the black market here. Where are you located?? I'll help ya search on Craigslist when I get bored lol

I'll post a few craigslist findings in here, though Eggy's example is good. A 15 will be plenty unless you're looking to go crazy with it. Are you just looking for bass or you looking for sound quality?

I'm looking for good sound quality and to add a little more bass than just the stock sub. Nothing fancy, I just want it to bump a little more while keeping the quality it already has.
