Hey what's up gucci kid. A few people have dide the non-navi conversion to their car on the forum. You can say it is a plug and play type of install but the parts are expensive and the installation is a PIA but when its done it looks like the navi came from factory. Since the non-navi to navi conversion is expensive and labor will cost more if you don't DIY, many people on the forum have done a carputer install.

I have a non-navi and was in the same boat as you and after some searching on here I decided that the carputer would suit me better (financially). Here are a few links from the 3G Garage. Hope this helps you out. Oh yeah, if you want to go the carputer route check out this website it has helped me out a lot www.mp3car.com Good luck man.

Here are the links:

hard to understand... most computer navis are just a good if not better than acura's because of the expansion they can do

Oh yeah one more thing about OEM navi VS carputer navi: the OEM has far more voice commands than the carputer navi.

And parts alone for the oem navi (if you don't buy it from a junkyard and go through acuraparts.com) will cost over 2k where as carputer parts will be maybe half of that. Just chiming in Acuraluvr if you want to add anything else go ahead correct me if I'm wrong about what I said because I'm not 100% sure on the pricing and the carputer navi.

^^
that maybe the biggest advantage over carputers - usually, systems made for cars (ie our navi) are made for hands free use... keep in mind though, since you had a non-navi to begin with, i dont know from other installs if you get those commands back (say "show ATM on navigation... i dont know if you get those commands when a oem is installed on a non)
as for the price, im not sure it would be about half, but the point is that you will be getting a better bargin with a carputer setup

Prices Oem conversion - $2300 for hardware + labor
Carputer - matters with the hardware, probably $1500 - $2500 (the touch screen is usually $700 alone)

With the OEM install, all the users on here had all of the voice commands working.
