Noise Canceling

Hello,

This is my first post on Acurazine so here goes. I recently (within the last two months) bought a 2008 Alabaster Silver Type-S. I've been hanging out on the forums here for most of that time though reading up on various mods and DIY's.

One thing that I am curious about is the rear noise canceling device and its common issues with installing amps/subs. I know this issue is beaten to death about how to get around it but I am curious as to how to actually FIX it.

I have a friend who is an electronic engineer and he is curious about any schematics that might be available, or if anyone has any detailed information on the reason for the electronic interference. I'd be curious to see if he and I can devise a circuit board to significantly reduce or all out eliminate this issue and perhaps make it a DIY.

Thanks in advance.

Current mods so far: RV6 V3 pre-cat deletes (w/"racing pipe"), RV6 J-pipe, Excelerate cat-back exhaust w/res, custom cold-box intake

Fair enough. I've actually got it unplugged right now as I have a sub setup in the back. I'm wondering though if that is going to affect anything like Bluetooth, voice activation, etc.. I don't use the voice activation system that much really either so I can't tell if it has been compromised. What is the canceler for? I've been living fine w/o it so I guess I'll just leave it as is. It works, that's all that matters...

It would take hundreds if not thousands of hours or R&D to get it to work with an aftermarket sub and amp and that would only be applicable for that particular sub and amp.

It basically applies the same frequency as the noise but 180 degrees out of phase to cancel each other out. You don't hear this when it's doing it's job. Quadruple the power and add 5x the cone area and you get the rumble since it's still calibrated for a 25w 8" free air sub.

I'm not trying to discourage your friend, it would be a fun project but probably not worth it. Plus, if the sub is being used to cancel out road noise, it leaves less head room for music.
