No voice response from navi

New problem. Driving down the road with navi going and I notice that there is no voice. I press voice...nothing. I press the navi button on steering wheel and no beep.
Restart car. Still not working. Open door on navi unit in trunk and close. The navi reboots and all of a sudden everything is okay. Turn off the car. Restart engine and problem is back. There is no voice but navi still responds to commands. Voice is enabled on screen #3 and volume is up. Anyone have a clue?

Call your local dealer is my $.02.

I don't remember reading a fix for this but check by clicking "search" above and type in your problem... might find something.

Good luck.

The first thing that I would try is removing the battery cable. This will reset the navi system. Be sure that you have your radio and navi codes handy because you will need to reenter them upon startup.

happened to me once too
if there's no beep, reconnect the ground battery

if there is beep, but no respond
go to setup and turn the command voice higher

Holey thread bump.

I just checked photopro30's profile and his last login was a month ago. You might want to PM him and hope that he responds.

Do YOU have any mods in your car cj1raven?

Hey datmrman,

The only mod I did was the welcome screen hack, but I doubt that did anything. I checked the fuses and they seem alright. I'm wondering if the factory amp had the subwoofer and center channel get fried when I hooked up my new amp on the wires of the old amp. What's a good way to check? I figured hooking into the wires before the stock amp should tell me. All the other speakers are working fine. Are there any fuses that I'm missing.

I tried messaging photopro30 to find out what he did to fix his problem, but haven't heard yet. When I call the dealership, they say bring it down and we charge $103/hr to look at it.

Thanks

I also doubt that the welcome hack did anything, seeing that many members have done it successfully without any problems.

I think you should invest in or borrow a multimeter. Your local Radio Shack or Fry's Electronics should carry them.

Is that like a voltmeter and what would I do with it?
