Unhappy No Navi Voice Command and Guidance Voice

I have an 05 with Navi. The problem is my voice command and guidance voice for the Navi does not work. My HFL works fine for my phone, but not for the Navi.

Here's what I know and tried
1) My guidance voice settings on both Navi setup screen is turned up and on, I believe it's screen 1 and 3.
2) My Navigation is running Acura software (Acura Splashscreen)
3) I've dis/re-connected my battery and still the same

Below is couple picture of my diagnostic menu of my Navi after I did the hold MAP/MENU/CANCEL button for 3 secs.

Here's the Navi diagnostic menu

I ran a diagnostic on the Navi system by selecting first menu item on the picture above. Notice how the "HFL" is red, what is the "N G" in red on the top right corner.

Here's a pic of the F-SCAN, anyone know what the error code mean?

The rest of the screens does not show anything out of the ordinary.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

I don't have any of those screens in my 06. Is your navi hacked?

My Navi is not hacked, it's running factory software for the TL

You don't have these screens when you hold MAP/MENU/CANCEL Buttons together for 3 seconds? Try it out...

Wow, I learned something. I personally wouldn't go messing with to much stuff in there, just because I'd be afraid of messing something up pretty bad.

With that said, the differences on mine were:
-All boxes on this screen were green, including HFL
-Where yours says NG, mine just said detecting. Probably because my car is
in the garage and it couldn't find a navi satellite to connect with.
-The small box line under the chg canada button were all one color.

When it's saying detecting, press the voice command talk button on the steering wheel, then say "Test", then press the voice command cancel button on the steering wheel.

Now what does the "detecting say" say?

It says OK and the box turns green.
Your HFL might be bad.

Thanks for checking out the screens on your car for me. I really appreciate it.

Does the TL have a seperate HFL for the Navi and the phone? Because my phone HFL works perfectly.

Bump...

Anyone else know any troubleshooting ideas before I take it to the dealer?

When you attempt a voice command (of course using the voice command buttons, not the HFL buttons), does it listen? I.E. if you say "temperature 76 degrees", or "find nearest Chinese restaurant", does it execute the command, but just not verbally repeat what you just asked it to do?

When I hit the voice command, the music pauses. I say something, nothing happens, the music would come back on. So, it does not execute any voice commands.

When the Navi is giving guidance, the music would tone down, but no guidance comes out. Then music would return to normal.

So there are 2 problems, but I think they're related.

hold down the talk and end buttons for the HFL for 10 sec. and you will hear the HFL system enter diagnostics, it will either say the HFL system is functioning properly or it has an error. See what it says.

Do you mean the HFL buttons for blue tooth or the voice command buttons under neath the blue tooth buttons?

I tried the voice command buttons, nothing happened.

My blue tooth HFL is working fine.

I had this exact problem when I converted my non-navi 06 TL to navi.
You want to know what the problem was? I bought 04 navi parts (navi screen and drive, which included the ver. 3.30 disc) from a salvage yard. But I have an 06 TL w/ an 06 HFL system. Basically, the 3.30 disc (from 2004) was incompatible with the 06 hfl. Everything else worked, except the damn voice commands. You cannot imagine the hours we spent figuring this out.

Anyway, I solved the problem by buying an updated disc off eBay ... 3.60 to be exact and I guess they wrote code into the disc to accomodate the 06 hfl hardware.

That's weird, I have an 05, but I'm running the 3.30G disc. So that's a possibility, I didn't know the there were differences in the software in the 04-06 Navi.

Hmm...I need to find someone with a 05-06 disc and check it out if that solves the problem before I buy a disc though.

Were your symptoms exactly the same?

Thumbs up Problem Solved!

Problem solved!

zeppelin77 was dead on the money with the diagnoses. Even helped me getting a new disc too

As soon as I loaded the disc from a 05-06 TL, version 3.60 to be exact. The problem went away completely.

Now my voice command works and navigation guidance voice works. I'm so happy, this is the last little problem I'm having with my newly bought TL, now everything is perfect!

Thank you Zeppelin77.
