No NAVI TL Options.

When a large enough portion of the TL buyers choose the navi option that it maximizes profit for Acura, then they've priced it perfectly. After all, Acura only is in business to make money. If they charged $20,000 for the nav option and so few people bought it that it doesn't cover the cost to make the option available, then we can call it "overpriced." Likewise, if they only charged $200 for it and virtually everyone bought it, but the additional $200/car didn't adequately cover the cost to the company, then it would be tragically underpriced. There is some point between $200 and $20,000 that is optimal for Acura and I suspect they've found that point.
But since I need PDA for many reasons including email and web I wouldn't probably change to build in if it will cost this money. This is my second GPS/PDA and what a difference to use Bluetooth and VGA screen!!! Receiver is so sensitive that I could keep it in trunk.
I would spend more for better tires or AWD options, or for more powerful sound amplifier and sub.

Highlights:
- a character from Halo is the visual representation of the word idiot
- the built in navi option only puts a dot on the screen, apparently there exists no other value/features for your 2k
- I am a proud money spender (I guess that's accurate, I'm happy with my TL)
- "You can't throw stones inside glass made house."
- a thread titled "No NAVI TL Options" really should have been called "Aftermarket GPS options" or "GPS using a PDA" if you didn't want all these Navi people reading it...your title sucks because in English it makes no sense

I've been reading this thread with amusement. I've been thinking about the claim that the NAVI is $2000...
Well, if I get $2000 off MSRP, could I then say I got the NAVI for free? If someone paid $900 less for their car than I paid for mine, does the $900 come off the car, the NAVI, the destination charge or what?

Some (much?) of the cost of the built-in navi is recouped when the car is resold.
Who would not want the built in navi? It is one of the best on the market (Acura and Lexus). Sorry to have to say this, but the dash really does look empty and cheap without the navi. Plus, adding an aftermarket; usually you want everything to look as if it matches everything else(OEM). The navi has many, many useful features. When your talking in the 35k range whats another 2k to that? Just my
. Don't know bout anyone else, but I will definately be getting the navi with my 05 TL.

I'm sorry, I'm having a hard time understanding what you wrote
I think i know what ur saying. no i DONT watch it while driving, its for my passenger...esp the loud one...
my parents got a C230 w/o navi and then decided like the next day to go w/ a model w/ navi but was too late cause the dealership sent all the paper work or whatever to the DMV. so they ended up getting an aftermarket GPS unit, its good for putting in cars w/o navigation but nothing beats the integration that you get with the built in navigation system (experienced it in a IS300 and 03 TL-S)
i have a friend that has a palm pilot w/ a bluetooth GPS receiver, it works pretty good but the screen is too small so it makes it hard to read the calculations (like time till desntination, travelling speed etc, but it does have a guided voice that tells you what you need to do) i also find it a pain in the butt to have to mount the palm pilot and then all the power cables. Id rather just get in the car, start up the car put in my destination and then go

What a joke this thread is!
I suspect most of us have pda's.
We have built-in Navi because we can and don't mind paying for it.
After you drive your new car away from the dealer your navi decision has already been made.
My friends who didn't think navi was worth it use mapquest and paper maps. Cheaper than using a pda. Others can just drive and read signs and hope for the best.
I think the navigation system should be renamed the "Information Syatem."
To each his own.

I am not interesting in discussion with lame-dvd-navi watchers on you forum. I guess www.aximsite.com is mine.
Good Luck everybody!!! TL the best (even without NAVI)!!!

I really like those TomToms. While I don't have one, I've convinced a few others to get them. Very nice systems and I like how you've mounted yours such that it won't interfere with anything in your car.

the software is a tad more accurate than the tomtom but the fact that tomtom is wireless, has a much better screen and integrates with the car so nicely makes it a better choice for me.
Some people may look at the screen and be like...aw its way too small...I thought this too----until I got it and see how large it renders everything.
I REALLY regretted not getting the navi...until I got this unit. Is it as good as the acura navi ? no----But its a great solution. The view on this is way cooler than the acura navi I will say that....
