Nextel offers a flip with bluetooth, but it's for international calls only. Makes alot of sense, right? I just cancelled my Nextel for a Cingular Razr.
They did not impress me at all. Although I used the direct connect alot, I'd rather have bluetooth, and the myriad of other features that others offer that Nextel does not.
I heard (while I was cancelling) that they are coming out with several new phone around October. I hope they're right for their sakes. They are getting alot of complaints according to the Nextel rep I talked to.

Been over a month since the last post in this thread.
Does ANYONE have a clue about the i870? I checked their website, and there is no word about it. It would be nice if one could either get on a waiting list, or pre-order it.
I'm stuck with Nextel because of work, CT law effective next week makes cell phones illegal in the car (without hands free), and I have a bluetooth car with a crappy phone.
UGH!

nextel's got2 bluetooth fones the blackberry which i own and some other phone thats shity. but in october they are releasing the "infamous" i930 whihc was told to me by a rep when i got my blackberry. the other flip with bluetooth that someone mentioned is not a nextel its a sprint fone. nextel doesnt work internationaly.
I just hope the i870 works with the TL. The other Nextel, non-Blackberry phone (i605) doesn't. That's really going to make or break it for me. If the i870 isn't fully supported, I'm going for the 7100i.

The i605 should work with the TL and the 05 MDX which has also added the same Johnson Controls BT. I've tried it in both and it does work for telephone calls.

its a motorola so im guessing (hoping) it should work
Just got my i870, paired it up and ... it works!! So far I've only tried dialing out, and it worked with no problem. Pairing was easy ... took less than 3 minutes. I used the pairing directions for the Motorola v551 from the Acura web site, since they were the most basic.
When I try the rest of the functions, I'll post an update.
Finally!!

i870 Update
Just an update on the Nextel i870. I added voice commands to the TL's phonebook and tried calling using them. Works fine. Also, checked incoming calls and that also worked with no problem as well.
Looks like we finally got the phone we've been waiting for.

The i870 will work with both the Acura TL and the '05 MDX.
When I get more time I will post a step by step pairing guide. When the car says it is looking for a BT phone, go into the BT setup menu on the phone and pair it with the car. It should show HandsFreeLink TM . After you enter the same PIN on the phone as on the car, the car will say that a new BT phone has been found. You will then need to name the phone.
After you have paired the phone, you should also go into the device history menu, select the HandsFreeLink TM and hit OK. Under access if it doesn't say Automatic hit OK and select automatic. The other option is to ask. You will have to accept it every time you get in the car. In automatic, as soon as you start the car it will link. You should see the phone icon illuminated on the display with AC temp on the top of the dash. Caller ID will work on the MID display for both phone and direct connect.
For direct connect, it will work (sort of). You need to hit PTT on the phone. Very short calls may not be reliable in direct connect.
If this doesn't get you going post and I will try to write a more detailed description. I'm still recovering from Hurricane Wilma and just got power, phone and DSL back last night, so I'm still catching up with stuff...

I wonder what we have to do about getting Nextel to get the battery and signal strength to display.
Also, has anyone sucessfully connected with the Acura server? There is no NEXTEL choice, and the SPRINT choice does not connect.
What exactly does this do anyway?
