Congrats on the car. I would not hold your breath to see the i936 for a while. www.howardforums.com always has the inside scoop on phones before they come out, well usually... there is very little mention of the 936 on there...

With the more expensive services and less than capable equipment I gave in and made the call to Nextel care to check up on my contract date. These guys always know how to keep me another year. She offered an extra 15% discount on all my lines of services and 3 extended life batteries for $30 and the battery door free and s/h free for all 3 of my i830's. She emailed this offer to me in writing and gave me 30 days to accept. Normally I'd take the offer which comes with another year contract, but this time I'm trying to bite the bullet and wait out my current contract. So hard to resist though.

I'm really tempted to take up the offer and shortly after upgrade my line to the Blackberry. If I knew I was going with a Blackberry plan then I'd stick with Nextel since I'm more than happy with the service even at a little extra cost to me. Also I've seen in action the Blackberry paired with the TL and all of the HFL features in the TL work with the Nextel Blackberry including: Caller ID, Signal Strength, and Battery Strength, with no echo noticable except when the volume in the TL is at very high levels. Hey as far as I know this is the ONLY piece of equipment with Nextel that all the features work on the TL's HFL. That by itself is a selling point!

The i930 is about the same size as the i860 except that its about 50% thicker. It is a "world phone" with Nextel and GSM functionality. It also runs Windows CE and has some PDA functionality, but no BT. I have my weekly call with the iDEN guys today, and I will try to figure out when a better BT phone comes out and when the i930 will be available.

Both the i930 and a version of the i860 with BT are scheduled to ship in September. Knowing Motorola, these dates may slip, but the designs are done and they have built thousands of prototypes. Hope this helps.

Not sure where you have your information from but the i930 prototypes have been out and do not have BT.

I think he meant that the 860 version will have the BT.

I also have the i870 and works good with me too... sometimes I actually get the direct connect to work thru the car also (well, I have to still press the button on the phone).

How well does dispatch work for you? For me, it takes the car a really long car to start playing audio, so I seem to always miss the beginning of the audio... So much that a quick couple words often don't make it at all...

Otherwise it works fine for phone calls...

my i870 worked fine with the TL other than showing the strength of the batter and signal. never had any problems with it. just upgraded to the blackberry and it works fine.
