Newbie Audio Question....

I am a car stereo fan, currently have a 2001 celica. Im in the process of looking for a 2004 or 2005 tl. The question i have is, do people use the stock headunit or buy aftermarket? My system includes iva-d900, h-701, seas lotus speakers, tru tech 4.100v2, tru tech hammer h-1, and two idmax. i would love to be able to put that in the TL. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

~thanks

Welcome to the forums. I suggest searching for your answers on this https://acurazine.com/forums/search.php

Many people have modified their audio system; however, I don't think anybody has changed their headunits. The majority of the people bought the car with navi which integrates everything into the nav screen and makes it difficult to replace. Besides, the TL's audio system is pretty damn good - it does; however, lack bass.

As far as the playing a dvd on the nav system - please use the search function and you will find several threads on this particular issue.

Definatly dont change stock! You could do it, but it would cost a hell of a lot of money to fabricate something that looks like it fits in to the dash! But you can totally use the factory deck and upgrade the system to make it sound like the shit!!

There was one guy with an anthracite and he put two head units in. I believe they were alpine, which looked really ugly. If you do a search you might be able to find it. His trunk looks good though.
