New to subs, questions!

I have a 04 non navi.
I am ready to invest in some subs. I'm thinking a 8w2 JL to drop down into the stock subwoofer that comes with our car. Then, adding another 10w7 in the trunk.

Few questions, how big of an amp do I need? Will the stock head-unit work? Could you guys give me some amps to look at.

Problem with the amp is that, I will probably get 1 sub at a time until I reach what I wanted. Do amps have options to turn down the power, so that it will power one sub until I get another sub without having major issues? Or even to control how much power each sub will receive? Because going 50/50 on different size subs isnt the right way.

Does my setup sound funny, dumb, interesting? I really dont think a 8" will give me what I want. I do still want some trunk room so 2 12's is kinda out of the question.

Thanks

forget the 8, its going to sound like crap because its not designed to be freeair.

if you need it, the 10w7 is MORE THAN ENOUGH BASS. pair it with a 500/1 mono and your way good.

and if you want to save trunk space, look at unclads boxes for the subs, they fit in the corner of the trunk.
