New PDA phone W/Bluetooth - Testing and need help!

Hi All!!
I have been following this forum for some time, as a lurker..
Fortunate enough to get my grimy hands on a new TL a couple months ago.

Here's my delimma:

I was waiting for the 710 like everybody else- when BAM! Telecom Dir came in my office and asked that I test out a new PDA cell phone. I can't tell you too much about it, but here's what it is.. Windows PocketPC enabled PDA with CDMA (yep..) phone capabilities, and a slide out qwerty keyboard.
WiFi, BLUETOOTH, the works...some of you may know it as one of it's assumed names:
XDA III, Harrier, etc.. Obviously, this is not available yet- but I was lucky enough to be "the chosen one" to run this pre-version through it's paces until commercial release.
Should'nt tell the proposed carrier..but it starts with SP... oh, and before you ask..Late Sept.
It is equipped with Bluetooth 1.1 - the Broadcom version.

everything seems to work perfectly among a majority of the features...ahh Kimosobe..now we get to the TL Part..

Pairing is an art in itself with this phone- lots of different type of angles to get into "discovery" (which it is NOT termed on the Bluetooth Manager setup).

Finally get the TL to recognize that the phone is paired. The icon at the phone shows "HandsFree Link Tm" profile, and also says "Audio Gateway" within the
"active connections" screen. OK, whatever- click the button on the steering wheel to get going- and she says "There is no service with "#$%" phone"!
Dammit! What's the deal? The MFD shows "No Information Available".. hmmm problem there..
Alas! I can dial a number on the physical phone, hit 'Send'...then click the steering button and say "Transfer"..and now I have the phone out of the car speakers and can converse fine..as if no problems..

So, primary question- Why can I not make calls directly from the HFL, and why does it not have any display in teh MFD, and why does she say "service is not available"? Mobilezen? Bueller? Anyone?
(No Manual on the pre-release phone yet..)

Thanks in advance..

Rick

Well, it seems that the phone is not compatible with the HFL. I think that since you are testing the product, you can tell the engineers working on it of this issue and they can correct it for the production model. If it does work i'm sure the SP (shhhhhhhh) users here will be thrilled. Thanks for the info though, and we look forward to this new phone.
