A new Navi feature!

Here's a nifty new Navi feature that I found:

1) Start your car about 500 times or so.

2) Wait for the Navi to boot up.

3) Press the "OK" button on the disclaimer screen.

4) On the 500th time or so (this feature does seem somewhat random, +/- 500 or so ignition starts), you will be rewarded with a back-lit grey night-light instead of the usual annoying multi-colored Navi map. Neato!

No annoying menu text, just a nice, soothing, featureless dim light. And, you can't turn the night-light off until you turn off your TL. Trying to override the more useful night-light by selecting various Audio sources (CD player, FM Radio, XM presets, etc.) results in the button presses being graciously ignored. Acura is so considerate to offer this feature to us.

Funny that I couldn't find this "night-light" feature in the owner's manual, though.

I've see this feature twice now, so I just know that it is something that Acura wants us to enjoy.

Every time he starts up he makes a little notch in the steering column.

That can't be good.

Aren't you glad you're still under warranty?

Keep us posted.

That's funn, żGotJazz?. I've had that happen once or twice as well. You turn the car on - and the navi screen stays black. All you see is the backlighting on the screen.

Yeah - you gotta reboot...

Max button

What I have recently discovered, is when you only have your lights on and you depress the "max" button, the TL's Navi screen will change to black with the streets in white lettering. If you depress the "max" button again, it will return to normal with the amber background. I have tried this several times and it only happens with the parking lights or headlights on. It greatly reduces the glare in inside your car. You also can depress the +- button and it will dim or brighten the dash lights while your Navi screen is black lit. I really enjoy driving at night without the glare from the Navi screen when it is black lit.
