New NAV DVD (Orange 3.80)
Hi,
I just got the lastest DVD Nav Disc for my 05 TL Nav. Orange disk version 3.80. Is there anyway to copy the disk for use in the Nav. drive? I would like to copy it so that I can store the original disk safetly away. I heard the Nav drive can scratch the disk. Any help would be appreciated.

Copying the navi DVDs has not been successful. As long as you put the disc in and leave it there, as there's really no need to take it in and out, you shouldn't have a problem with it getting scratched.
The only updates are to the maps, POIs, and this disc does actually fix the DST time change schedule. The interface is exactly the same.

It is my understanding that copying these disks IS possible, but I have seen varying methods of how to do so.
Some suggest doing a "Copy-on-the-fly" method, where you copy the one disk directly to another.
Yet, I have successfully created a 4.63 DVD from an ISO image and gotten it to work in my girlfriend's Accord, so that leads me to believe that you can copy direct to ISO.
A few notes on burning the DVD: I had to use DVD+R DL disks and I used ImgBurn to burn the ISO to DVD. Also, be aware that not all DVD burners are the same when it comes to Dual Layer disks. Make sure that burning to DL disks is supported by your burner and make sure you have the latest firmware installed on the burner. Even then, it may not work. Trial & error may be needed here.
In addition, the DVD media vendor is important---make sure you use the highest quality DVDs for your burns. The current highest quality seems to be Verbatim DVD-DL disks which were made in Singapore. Stay away from Verbatims produced in India.
One final note: do all of your burns at 2.4X speed. Slower burn speeds mean more accurate burns to the media.
With all of that said, I would suggest trying ImgBurn (free software---use Google to find it) to either burn from disk to disk or from disk to ISO. If you manage to get a good ISO, please PM me as I need this version for my '06TL, too!!![Too Cool](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/toocool.gif)
Let me know how you do.

This topic has been discussed in length on here.
It is not possible to backup the 3.X navi dvd, but it is on the 4.X navi dvd.
For details, please visit this older thread:
