website lists Civic as 7 speakers 350 watts and TL with 8 speakers 225 5.1 DVD-A, so if we don't play a DVD-A but just a regular CD, which car would have a better sound quality?

what i am feeling most unbalanced is that the new Civic Si has built in mp3 aux input and also the capability to play mp3 cds....I REALLY WANT THAT FOR MY TL!

Talking wow this is right up my alley...

My girlfriend just bought a 2006 Honda Civic Si. And I get to drive it all the time. Let me tell you this car is FUN!!!! it has no torque, but makes all sorts of nice growls and snarls under heavy acceleration.

As for the audio, It's just ok. My TL's is so much nicer. It's loud, but not that much louder and the midrange is kind of muddy.

She even says it herself how much she likes my stereo over hers......

The amount of watts an audio system has doesn't really tell you how well a system sounds. Power rating is mostly a marketing spec to make consumers think more is better. The TL audio system is pretty good for a stock set up. The cabin is pretty well insulated compare to other cars I've sat in.

A built in MP3 funtion would be nice but it can be implemented with aftermarket parts. I'm sure Civic owners wished they can brag about having 5.1 sound and if they wanted to have 5.1, it's a costly mod.

^^^Precisely. ^^^

Wattage comes in all qualities. I'll take 40 clean watts over 350 dirty watts any day. In fact I have. Then you need to look at the quality of the drivers. There is so much hype and marketing there as well. Once you cut through the BS and get some good power and drivers you will see the difference. You would also be surprised to find it cost less than you think asn is NOT found at the big box stores.

Again I agree. I'd like a bit more punch in the bottom but nothing has compelled me to change anything yet.

I can go to the flea market and buy a 5000 watt amp for $30. It doesn't mean it's good.
