Need quick advise and expertise for iSimple
Hey thei is a friend of nkoul_96, I'm installing the isimple for him. I am a technician at Future Shop. Anyways I have done the install and it does not work. Now my questions are:
The female and male white plugs that go into the radio; well i can only plug in the male as you know. So i am left witha female plug, and no original wire harness was connected, so it is hanging there. Now would that cause the isimple not to work....because those wires are jumped anyway.
Second, when we plug in an iphone/ipod they are being charged, telling me it is connected properly, but there is no way to get to play them. We hit mode and have no access to xm (2004 acura tl, w/ navi and no xm as it is canadian). Anyways could u please let me know where u connected each of your plugs, thanks

Also , Sirius satellite radio is already installed on the car. I don;t know if this had anything do do with it. It does not switch between aux when pressing the mode buttons.

It needs an XM button man..
Compatible with Acura MDX 2007-2008, Acura TSX 2005-2008 and Acura TL 2004-2008; Acura radios require XM button for compatibility; not compatible with Acura vehicles equipped with rear seat entertainment systems; not compatible with navigation radios

Looked on the forum and this is what I have found...
"Important details......
1. Radio MUST have an XM button on the radio to be compatible.
2. Display mode MUST be in “CH NAME” or “CHANNEL NAME” to operate properly.
3. Vehicle equipped with Rear Seat Entertainment are not compatible."

Check this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/so-begins-04-tl-w-nav-719103/ . This member has a Canadian model without XM button. It is possible but I'm not sure whats missing.
i just install mine today. Everything works great.
You have to disconnect the harness from the back of the radio. And plug that into the iSimple. And the male from the iSimple back into the radio. If it still doesnt work you have to update the firmware from the iSimple and both from the Ipod.

The CD button only works on units that emulate a CD changer like the USAspec and the DICE iPod kits. The Peripheral is an XM emulator. The iSimple will work on 2005 and up Canadian model Honda cars just fine. Use the MODE button on the steering wheel to toggle between sources. AM/FM/CD/AUX/IPOD

Just to edit , I am pressing the mode button. I checked another thread and he has done it with the 2004 TL. Here is the link https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=719103 for it. I think the problem might be that since there is no original harness. I can;t plug anything into the old harness, the one that is supposed to go to the back of the radio. If anyone knows which one I am supposed to replace it with let m know please because I might have to buy one.

Just to confirm... you installed the PXAMG using the PGHHD1 harness and plugged that in behind the radio? All dip switches in the up position?
No, that's correct. There should only be an existing harness in that receptacle if you had XM or a trunk mounted CD changer which you do not. The plug receptacle on the back of your radio should have been empty.
So basically there should be an extra harness plug that is just dangling. Also , just to make sure , when it is being installed the dip-switches should be on the up position then I'm guessing I switch them or do I just leave them up the whole time. Thank you in advance.

All your dip switches should be up. Both out of the box and when in use. They only need to be down when programming via the mini USB.
Hey Bryan,
It just so happened that I just finished installing the same iSimple set up onto my 06 TL (no nav) this weekend. Bought it from Future Shop too. My TL didn't have an XM button either, but this won't be a problem. When I took off the panels to plug in the PGHHD1 wire harness, there was nothing plugged in the XM slot, so all you have to do is plug in the male white plug. That means you'll have the female plug dangling (again, not a problem). Once you're finished plugging in the PXAMG Media Gateway and your iPod cable, you're good to go.
The trick to get to access to your iPod from your stereo is to hit the mode button on the steering wheel and cycle until you get to XM1. Once you see that on the display, turn the right wheel on the stereo console until you see iPod. In case you don't hear any music playing, press preset 6. That's what I did and then boom! You'll hear the ipod blasting through the car's speakers.
I did a bit of research beforehand so here's what I found that was helpful:

Hope that helps!
