^ check for a blown fuse under the hood of your car. It's right next to the air intake box. I don't have my diagram with me but check for a possible blown fuse.

Try removing your new circuit and see if those items come back. It may be causing a short or broken connection.

It sounds like the problem isn't with where you put it, but maybe it's a short in the wiring to your detector. Are you saying the circuits cut out when you plug the add-a-circuit into the fuse block or did you remove an in-line fuse (leaving the add-a-circuit in place) to make them come back on?

If the former, the add-a-circuit may have just been plugged in incorrectly. If the latter, you have a short in that wire. If I recall, there is a place to plug in accessories without needing an add-a-circuit fuse. There is a thread mentioning that in the electronics subforum.

Edit: I just went to find that thread and I see it's yours!

what i did was i used the ACC fuse which is located on the top row 2nd from the firewall.. the fuse is a 7.5... i took out the fuse put it into the "add a circuit" and put the "add a circuit" into the ACC fuse holder.. then i used the little wire splicer that came with the V1 unit and plugged it into it.. i used one of the bolts of the hood release as a ground... the radar detector works fine,,, but i lose everything else mentioned above.... when i take the "add a circuit" out and take the 7.5 fuse out of that and put it back in the ACC slot i get everything back again.... maybe im putting the fuse in the wrong spot of the "add a circuit" i noticed that there were 2 slots to add a fuse...

Same thing happened to me when wiring my detector...

I had shoved the wire in line with the fuse however the wire must have been connecting both ends of the fuse and shorting it out. I took it out placed the fuse back and it worked fine. I then just trimmed the wire so not as much was exposed and I placed it back with the fuse making sure it was only touching one side of the fuse and voila, it worked fine.

Goodluck!

Well, it doesn't sound like a short, so I'm guessing that plugging in the add-a-circuit is causing the other circuit to open. Maybe the blades on the add-a-circuit are thicker than usual and causing the buss terminals in the block to open. With the add-a-circuit in place, try removing and replacing the other fuses around it to see if they seem loose.

i did not try to remove the fuse and leave the add a circuit in place.. i didn't think anything would have worked bc the circuit would not have been complete

i will try it tomorrow morning..... it is really dark out and my gf is bitching.... i don't think that there are any fuses on either side of the ACC.... i was going to try to slip the wire between the fuse and not use the add-a-circuit but i didn't think it was a good idea. i thought this way would have been better.. i am going to try to put 2 fuses in the add-a-circuit and see if that does anything....

I've not used the add-a-circuits before, but it looks like you need to use the two fuse slots. One is for the fuse you're replacing and the other is for the added circuit tied to the pigtail. If anyone else has used these, they can say if I'm right about that or not.

It's okay to stick the wire into the slot with the fuse.

I used the wiper fuse for my V1 hardwire. It's been working flawlessly. Give that one a try tomorrow. Good luck.

yeah,,, i totally think that may be the problem... i only plugged the 7.5 amp fuse into the add-a-circuit, but i never put a fuse in the other spot... the thing even came with a bunch of extra fuses..

Well... personally, if something had to go wrong, I'd rather take a chance with the wipers than with the electronics.

Good luck with the ticket thing tomorrow.
