Need Audio Help In/Around ATL
Need Audio Help In/Around ATL
Hey all, I could really use some help. I've always installed systems in every car I've owned, except my first car, so I know quite a bit about car audip, but I'm stumped and could really use someone else's help and advice. I live right near Atlanta and would love if someone had the time to help me troubleshoot. I'll drive out and pay you for your help/buy beer, etc. I have horrible hiss/alternator whine.
Background:
06 TL, Had ported box built at shop and had them install 2 amps while they were building and installing the box and sub. Normally, I would have installed the amps myself, but I wanted a stealth install and just decided to have them do it all at once and be done with it. Well, not so much. Drove it home and had whine/hiss. Decided I would try and fix it, b/c the shop is 45mins+ away from me. Spent past 2 days troubleshooting to no avail. I've done everything I can think of. Just called the shop and told them my problem and they want to put a choke filter on it.
They pulled the 4 channel amp input from before the factory amp and then ran speaker wires back up front and connected them to the factory speaker wires coming out of the amp.
Equipment: 1 used Arc Audio KS1000.1 mono sub amp and 1 new Arc Audio KS300.4 4 ch amp, along with 12" IDMAX sub in ported box. Just amping factory speakers right now, until I upgrade the front set.
Here's what I have done:
- Re-grounded amp
- Verified the shop's wiring job at the factory amp
- Ran a new remote turn on from ACC #32 with add a fuse
- Pulled RCA's out from under trim panels and just laid them over the seats
- Tried to isolate RCA inputs at 4 ch amp, but each one creates noise
- Disconnected factory amp altogether
Does anyone have the time and kindness to please help me out? I've been researching on here for days and haven't found anything that has helped me. I'm about to lose my mind here.
Thanks in advance,
Mitch

P.S. Forgot to mention that I have hissing when I go put the key in and go to ACC, but not on. When I crank it, the hissing gets louder and the alternator whine kicks in. Separated speaker lines from RCA's along the passenger side and tried using sub RCA's in 4 ch amp and still the same problem.
Thanks.
Thanks.
