Navtool 3.0 Install

Hey guys, I recently bought a navtool off ebay and tried installing. Normally I don't have any issue with following the directions, but this got a little confusing because I was "upgraded" to navtool 3.0, and sent instructions for navtool 2.0 with an addendum. Anyways...

Main issue is that while I can switch the screen between video inputs, the unit keeps saying no video input, despite having a dvd player and a camera plugged in. we also tested the dvd player, as well as the camera on a TV, and both worked fine.

Red cable on the harness was plugged into the power, yellow was plugged into a momentary switch, grey and black were grounded down. Any input or guides as to how to install the navtool 3.0 would be great. Or would this be a problem with either the harness, or the unit itself?

Hey I did this install in my 2008. I'm currently only using the HDMI input for smart phone mirroring. Based on your wiring of the NavTool itself it seems correct. Are you sure the DVD player is powered correctly? But I dunno, seems like it could be either the harness or the unit. It's good though you can switch between the screens so the nav unit is getting some type of video in from the NavTool. Try the HDMI port and see if you get video from that

This is the older one - no HDMI port for this one. I also don't think it was an issue with the DVD power, as I was doing this for testing, and the power for the DVD player was coming from a wall outlet.

Oh I thought you said you had the 3.0 version? For some reason I thought all the 3.0 versions had HDMI on them (maybe I'm wrong) On my NavTool 3.0,my HDMI in port is built directly into the navtool box itself and not on the harness. I guess its sorta irrelevant to your main issue though...

Yeah, I have the 3.0 version, but the one I think you're talking about is the 3.0 HDMI. I'll have to try and ping them about a new cable to test out, which I'm hoping is the case. Would be a shame to have to RMA the whole unit.

Got a new cable, but still didn't work.

Went through eBay to do a return on a defective item, and seller *ahem* attempted to fight it once they received the product by saying "product was destroyed". 30 minutes after getting this email from eBay about the case being opened, they responded in my favor and gave me my money back. Good on eBay's part, bad on the seller's.

FWIW I'd be weary of this company/product...

How could someone confuse the power and ground?
I mean, I have the grandfather red Navtool interface and it even had stickers on it saying what goes where.

This could have been avoided if fuse was installed in line, but the damage is consistent with reverse power and ground, i've seen people prep car wires and by mistake reverse, they connenct ground wire to 12 volts and power to ground
