Navigation time till destination

I was in heavy traffic yesterday and I only had 60 miles to go, but it was telling me my time till destination was almost 2 hours. (I was in stop and go traffic with the snow) Does it take into consideration your average MPH?

Once I got back going 60, the estimated time went down to an hour...

Absolutely, as far as average speed from start point to destination as placed into the Navi.
The most frustrating thing is noting that ETA is 10 minutes, then seeing the ETA climb to 17 minutes, etc. as I get stuck in traffic!

That's pretty cool it does that. It is not in relation to the average MPH your dash is telling you when you are computing mpg, and time driving... It is a seperate trip average mph when driving?

That is pretty cool it does that. There was a point where I was sitting STILL and the nav was saying 60 miles to go, but almost 2 hours till destination at the pace I was going... Shane

It's actually a pretty stupid feature because it doesn't know how far ahead the traffic is jammed. Is the accident 1 mile ahead or 20? It has no idea.

That might have changed with the introduction of XM Nav Traffic in the '07s.

It has to guess just like you do. How would you have it work?

It doesn't need to know...nor does that matter. It's calculating a time based on your current situation. If that situation stays the same for many more miles, then the ETA will be calculated accordingly. If your speed increases, it will lower the ETA.
