I think the only Navi hack mod for the 08 disc is the background pic.

These instructions are for Civic, but it's pretty much the same for TL.
I was able to follow it and change the splash screen on my '08.

It's on the first post, named under "Improved DumpNavi - Works with 4.xx NAVI software."

the part on the civic navi guide, he says he used "Paint Shop Pro" well i have a laptop that i'm using and its brand new and when i googled for paint shop pro i downloaded "Paint shop pro x3" its a 400mb file and when i try to click it and run it, it asks me what program i want to open it with?

i have powerarchive which is like winrar and winzip. i tried opening it with that but still nothing.

does anyone know what other program i can use to edit my picture that i want to put for the splash screen?

what program can i use to make my image 256 colors...

i'm trying to use this image to test

http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/5604/coolblue1ga.png

its a .png file. i right clicked on it and saved to my desktop, than opened with paint and clicked "save as bitmap" so now its a .bmp file.

i'm using this guide " http://www.guicide.com/cars/2006civic/nav/hacks/ " and it says to drag my opening image into internet explorer to see if it works. when i try to drag or open it with internet explorer, it opens as a download file and asks me to save or to open just as if i were downloading something...

i click open and the download box goes away and immediately comes back up again. whats up with that? i'm using a brand new lenovo y570 so i don't know what's going on with that. i decided to skip that step because the thumbnail icon for the "Opening1" image shows the correct image so i assume its correct.

i'm now on the step where it says
"Put a copy of the bitmap you wish to use into the c:\navhacker directory"

i'm in the command prompt and when i type " copy \coolblue1ga " or " copy \coolblue1ga.bmp " all i get is a message that says "the system cannot find the file specified" WTF?

i even dragged it into the "navhacker" folder and renamed it to just "cool" and when i open up the command prompt and type " copy \cool " or " copy \cool.bmp " it still doesn't work. same shit. so i skipped that step

now this is where i'm stuck at.
"I use kilt.bmp.
It is 480 by 234 pixels and 256 colors.
It was created in Paint Shop Pro."

how do i change or check that my image is 256 colors? i downloaded paint shop pro, but my laptop doesn't recognize what program it should be opened with and i don't have a damn clue either. tried powerarchive but didn't help.

once again... i skipped that shit and went to this
"Use 8to16.exe to make a compatible bitmap from an image of your choosing:
8to16 kilt.bmp Opening1.bmp"

i typed that into command prompt. it copied, but it also says
" ?Surprise: Input file 'Opening1.bmp' is not exactly 113,398 bytes. "

i ignored that message and opened up my navhacker directory and saw the new file but when i opened it up the image was all distorted and discolored.

WTF AM I DOING WRONG? man this shit is so frustrating spent 3 hours last night reading and trying to attempt this shit and still got no where.

someone help me, how the F do i do this shit for my 08 base? so frustrating

OK. here's one that should work. I tested this image on 4.72 and 4.92. I'm expecting it to work on your version as well.
Download the bmp file and save it to the same folder where your bysin is.
http://imailvideo.com/Acura/Images/Opening1.bmp
At the command prompt type "bysin 08jog2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp" . Of course your bin file name will be different, probably something like 07xxx2.bin.
Good luck.

Guys, thanks for your patience in helping Asian. I know this topic has been discussed before, but it's been a while.
