Navigation Led Me To Ocean?

Navigation Led Me To Ocean?
Today, my brother and i were sent to Atlantic City to pick up our father's late christmas present - a female Eclectus Parrot. We started from Milford, De and put in the address, easy enough and it was much faster that we though - only 70 sum miles and only an hour and a half. I looked over the direction and it all looked ok - there was a black dotted line from souther de to nj - i thought it might be a bridge. So we head down that way and after an hour of driving, we turn left to get on this "bridge" named CR-17 on the Navi and find ourselves in the entrance to the Cape May Lewis Ferry!
So completely frustrated and 2 hours lost, i went to avoid streets and tapped 10 different streets before it had a route going around delaware and taking over 7 hours to make. Does the navi just assume that a ferry is going to be available? Why would it direct me to this place? Would a version upgrade (we havnt upgraded our 04' disc) help? This brought me hours of confusion after trusting the navi with numerous trips.

That is weird. THe nav should not assume that you would put your car on a ferry to reach your destination. I could see a tunnel or bridge as part of the routine, but not a ferry.
A couple of weeks ago, I wanted to visit a friend who lives on Mott Street in NYC, but the nav led me to another Mott Street on Staten Island, which is also part of NYC, and the two addresses are less than 8 miles apart from each other. That was so confusing ...
I think the nav database needs to be cleaned up. Also, the search functions are quite useless unless you go to advance search and a few levels in. Two days ago, I tried to find a Modell's near Great Neck on Long Island, and was sent to Westchester, NY. Crazy.
