Angry Navigation on the fritz!!

So apparently in the last 3+ hours, my navigation has been on the fritz... Here are some of the stupid things its doing:

1. When told go "Go Home", it routes all over the country and says that I have 1900 minutes to go, when in reality its closer to 20 minutes.

2. When going to a destination that is 10 blocks away, it goes in completely the opposite direction, then turns somewhere else, and then goes all the way around to end up there, and yet the navigation still says that there is 30 minutes to go (yet it started at 30 minutes in the first place, which isn't right either). Direct Route was on, and despite having minimize freeways on or off, it didn't make a difference.

3. In another case, to go to a city about 20 minutes away, the navigation said to get on the 87 freeway, just to go to 280, back to 101, then back onto the 280 just to go to 101 again. Minimize Freeways was NOT on.

4. In yet another case, I typed in "Jackson" as the street name and it only gave N Jackson Ave and S Jackson Ave as the choices, yet there is also a Jackson St in San Jose. After retrying this 10 minutes later, the 3rd option (Jackson St) became available.

Wtf?! I don't even know where to begin troubleshooting...

Edit: For #1, it said 1900 HOURS, not minutes. I don't care where I go, I could get anywhere in the WORLD by going 15 miles per hour with 1900 hours.... WTF?

Wow, that sucks. The only thing I can think to try is either reloading the software or disconnecting your battery for 30 minutes or so. Beyond that, it might need a visit to the dealer.

Good luck!

I should really search, but what is the correct steps to reload? Is it as simple as just taking out the disc and then putting it back in? Or is it something else?

Lightbulb

I would read the TSB 05-018: Navigation System DVD Information for information.

You can try this:

Check your navi DVD for scratches. If nothing, continue below.
  • Start the car normally (or put the key in and turn it so NAV turns on), and at the main navigation screen hold Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel for 5 seconds.
  • Hit the "Version" button on the touch screen.
  • Hit the "Load Disc" button on the Version screen.
The navi will reboot, which will take a few seconds. If it doesn't improve, try again but disconnect the battery for 30 min first. I think you will lose your radio station presets when you disconnect the battery though. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I'll see if the problems persist and if so, try the suggestions above!
