Navigation CD exchange

Can anyone tell me if the CD/DVD reader for the navi in the trunk can be replaced for another one? i.e. garmin also based on navteq maps. Could I swap them and get them to interact? Thanks.

nope, the one in your trunk handles a lot of the cars function such as a/c, navi, radio and the upper display. No aftermarket one will be able to interface with the factory systems.
