Navi "warm-up" time?

I have been noticing that it seems like the navi needs time to warm-up. Whenever I am in NYC the Navi is all screwed up the initial 4 blocks, but then gets on the right course. Any urban area seems to screw it up. I was going through the lincoln tunnel and the navi had me floating on water with white dots, thought that was interesting. Anyone else have the same experience?

Hank

This is completely normal, and all your explanations make sense. GPS needs a clear view of the satellites, and it is obstructed by anything- toll buildings, trees or Hudson river
In urban areas it will take longer for the system to find a minimum number of sats in needs.

I park in a below ground garage in Manhattan. After pulling out, it can sometimes take 10 minutes of driving for the Nav system to sync itself with the real world. Its even displayed me driving off the end of Roosevelt Island onto the East River over water when driving on the FDR.

Even better, I pull up in front of my building, hit [Go Home] and the bitch sez:
"MAKE U-TURN, DESTINATION IS ON THE LEFT"

Haha - had a good laugh at that one. She can piss me off as well. "Stay right, Stay right, Exit Left" - WTF! It is all good though.
