Navi Update Question

Hi all, been looking around these forums for a few weeks, as I am picking up my 3rd Acura (Integra GS-R, RSX-S, and now my 07 CBP TL Type-S!!!!). I was curious about the navigation update. I don't believe the TL I'm picking up today has been updated to the 2012 update, but could I pull the disc out of my mom's 2011 TL w/ tech pkg? Just curious before I drop $200 on a disc.

Thanks,

Cam

As long as the disk is the same color, you should be able to.

I believe that '08 was the last of the DVD driven systems for Nav. Your Mom's 2011 would be utilizing a HDD, thus, no disk.

06 TL has the orange disc. I still have the original in mine. I cant see paying the money for an update. it always gets me home and most of the time I just use my android.

Yours (White) and your mom's (Orange) discs are not interchangeable because your navi's are different generation hardware. You need to get the updated White disc for 2012.

09-12 TL use red DVD, 07-08 use white DVD / thread.

Ok here is a secret, register with the official Acura site, or take your car to the dealer once to get the oil changed or something. Once they know you have one of their car's they will mail out offers like every month to upgrade your navi program. Come the end of the year before the newer years update is available they drop the price. I got my navi 2012 update for $75.

Also the update is worth it, it does have some cool new features if you get it for the cheaper price. The 08 model is the last year acura made the navi with a disk drive, all models after are hard drives.

Just purchased the Orange v3.C0 for my 2006 TL and hope to get it later this month. The version I have installed in my 06 TL is an Orange 1.1. The Acura website store has just listed the latest version and I though what the heck, get the latest update. Hope it works!

What are the cool new features? Any chance the Bluetooth and/or NAV prompts get updated.

Thanks
Ron

Just make sure it's the same color and you are good to go!

Installed the 2013 3.C0 Orange DVD update today in my 06 TL, so far not impressed, no new bells or whistles. Map, restaurants, etc. updates, but so far nothing special. I had hoped for better capabilities and the ability to bypass, the every day start-up warning message and the "OK" requirement. I also hoped the User 2 Pin would be erased, but not. I may still be learning how the 06 TL NAV system works, but so far my cell phone is much more impressive.

The disks are for map updates only. Anyone who says otherwise is misleading you. You have to hack the system to get any additional features and you will NEVER see a honda/acura map disk without an ok button nag screen. That is put there for liability reasons.
