Navi to TV/DVD Conversion options?

I know their is a lot of threads all over about this but the search is not helping me to much with this question.

How many Navi to TV/DVD kits are their that will work on 3g TL?

I have an 06 if that matters,

but I only found two and I thought a while back I remembered seeing more

If anyone could point me to the threads or list them and I will find myself.

I want to get this and want a PNP one but wana review all of them and get the one I like most and thats not a hassle to install.

Thanks!

There is only one that is truly plug and play. Dom's kit with the integration harness. 20 minute install. Unless you need more than two video sources (or one video, one camera), then there is no reason to get anything else.

What about: avelectronic?

I thought it was PNP also?

I mean I wouldnt mind to have to splice/cut 1 or 2 wires on any of the installs, but I want to get a list of ones people are using that are PNP or are for the most part and compare features/quality.

Also, I havnt read on it too much but for the sound, is the only way to do it taping into the XM thing or the FM converter thing? The navi doesn't use all the speakers for it does it, just the front ones thus why have to do one of these options?

Thanks again for any help.

20 Minutes !?!?! I guess if you don't need to run audio or power to the front. Took me like 200 minutes, lol. Dom's plug and play is the way to go, tried and tested thoroughly in the forums.

In my opinion, get the PnP from Dom. As for the sound, I used the Blitzsafe V2.0. Hooks into the stereo, you keep XM...get to Audio by hitting disc twice. FM Mods are sub par at best (especially in metro areas)

Just cables, clips, ties...little stuff. Dom's Unit and Blitzsafe (plus a camera if you want that...my favorite thing by far) are the major items needed. PM me if you need help finding the camera.

Could you point me to the right Blitzsafe V2.0? The one I seen says: "Does NOT work with factory navigation installed. "

I found it at: http://store.yahoo.com/logjam/blitzhonauxdmxv2.html

I want to be able to keep my XM and everything working, but why does this say will not work with factory Navi?

Is anyone using it? Or is that the wrong one?

Thanks!

Also, where do I go to get Dom's kit?

Where I got mine. Navigation works fine...I find 'Vicki' interrupting my movies though

Dom's unit doesn't do audio, so yes, 20 minutes to hook that component up.

I ran a power wire to the fuse box....did you tap power in the trunk? I just considered the audio tap a necessity so I ran both wires at once

Where did you get power for the unit at? It must be in the trunk if it only took 20 mins to hook up? When I bought the unit, Dom advised me not to tap into the Navi's power supply. Did you use a different source?

We brought power back before the install, so you're right, I did not include that into the calculation.

Stupid question, but is this ALL you need for audio? This is my last component and there is a lot of different options. I want to hardwires the sound for good quality, plug and play, and keep xm + nav. Is this the one thing I need to do all that? Thanks and sorry for the n00b question

If you want a single audio input source, that is what you need. If you want multiple audio input sources, use the PIE adapter with the PNP wiring harness.

That's all I used.
Ran audio cables to trunk. Spliced them to iPod in console and DVD player. I originally wired an Aux3 switcher but found a huge sound quality loss. When I spliced with 'pig tails' no noticable loss. The one caveat....since my iPod input is amplified I need to unhook it (in the console) to use the dvd player. Not a big deal since i use the iPod more than the DVD player.

Does the DVD only play when the E-brake is on or can you play movies while the car is in drive (not that I'd be watching while driving, but my passenger might want to)

The Dom unit has 2 inputs: one controlled and switches automatically when you place the car in reverse (rearview camera), the other is controlled by a switch (dvd).

So, technically, you should be able to watch DVD while the car is in park or drive, though I wouldn't recommend the later.
