Angry Navi Screen Protector

Anyone here have a Navi Screen Protector?

I just got mine.
The one with the non-adhesive backing.

Installed it the other day, but have about 6/8 tiny bubbles.
I guess I can live with it, but in a way it bothers me.

Just wondering if anyone else experienced this or its just my bad install.

I made sure the screen was wiped down clean, no dust or particles on the screen.
Yet, I still get these bubbles.

5 little bubbles around the centre of the screen and a couple along the edge.

I used the credit card method, which I thought worked well.

I guess I can take it off, clean it good, and re-apply again.
But I've tried this twice now and its still the same.

It works great and protects the screen well, its just these little BUBBLES.

Any advice? Please help.

I don't have any problems with mine yet.....but I guess that's because I didn't install it yet. Based on the FedEx tracking, I should be getting them tomorrow. Thanks to your post I'll be very careful applying them and report back with my results.

Evidently it isn't quite as easy as applying it to my PDA (now that was easy).

if you do decide to try it a second time. Make sure to wash the protector and ur screen. The backing of the protector is probably static cling or something so it will attract dust and i think that is what cauing the bubbles.

Try this method: mist the back of the screen protector with water and then squeegee the water out with a credit card or something on the navi screen.

Thanks

I'll try that.

Question tho, by misting the back of the protector and trying to squeegee it out, would that damage the nav screen or leave unwanted water marks?

In my experience with screen protectors this is common. The multiple PDA's I have had over the years have always had a few bubbles or spots no matter how many times I re-apply. I use a credit card too and it's a much smaller surface.

I wouldnt think so, just dont mist too much water on the back and squeegee gently. I have a screen protector on my navi screen and the first time i put it on it had a few unwanted bubbles and dirt behind it. So i rinsed in but was not able to get it 100% dry, so i reapplied it on my screen and notice it was easier and there was no bubbles. There was only 1-2 small ones on the edge, but that was cause by lint and i didnt want to reapply.

Its the same method tinter use when they apply tint to windows. I did my own tint and it turn out better then i expected for a first time DIY. There no visible bubbles on my tint in the middle, but some on the edge from poor cutting..lol

If it's just air bubbles, don't worry about it. They will eventually come out naturally. If it's lint, good luck! The navi screen has to be spotless. The smallest particle will cause an air bubble. Not even the credit card will remove it. Like Tonywp75 said, it will also attract dust like a magnet. The best way is probably to use some tape to attract and remove any dust on the screen (and around) before applying. Using anything else will also leave dust or lint.

I tried it again today (last time, I swear).
its was hell trying to clean it to perfection.
This time, i didn't wait for it to completely dry and found it easier and only left one small bubble near the centre.
However along the sides is a different story.
I guess my mistake was holding the edge while applying, so it left a bit of a mark, but I guess I can live with it.
I don't want to go thru it again.

Tony, can you post a pic of yours? Anyone can you post a pic?
Kinda want to compare and see where I stand in this - mine is probably pathetic compare to yours.

Thanks for the advice.

You know, if you get the clear slides for the overhead projectors and cut them a bit larger than the screen, that thing can be tug inbetween the trim and the screen. It's more durable, clear (NO BUBBLE), and cheaper(practically free). you can still retain the touch screen function.

This is mine: it's hardly noticable and my screen is protected by a harder smoother film.

Try Nushield.com. I use the screen protectors on both of my TSX's. They slide in and "float" over the screen.

It's still cheaper to get a pack of clear overhead projector slides from office depo. and you'll have a clear gloss surface like the sony vaio laptop's X-brite screen

What do you need a screen protector for? I could see for a pda where it's moving around in your pocket, but for a stationary unit in your car?

it's also to prevent fingerprints on the screen. you'll be surprised to find out how much oil is on fingers and you know it. it's a lot easier to wipe down and keep clean a piece of plastic as opposed to glass.
