Navi Screen Flickers on 08 TL Type-S on Menu Screens. Is it Normal ?
I noticed during my test drive about 6 weeks ago and it still happens ... the navigation screen flickers (wave like patterns flow through the screen ..something similar to when a co-axial antenna cable is loose on your 15 years old TV) on all Menu screens yet the image is perfect when a map is displayed or the audio info is displayed. The sales guy said that the "flicker" was by design. It could be but I still wanted to double check with you all to make sure it happens on yours too ! Thanks.

Can you help me understand what your symptoms were like ? The fact that the waves don't appear most of the times I am not sure whether mine has a defective screen. I see the waves only when the navigation or other menus are displayed.

is the flicker a straight line that goes up from the bottom of the screen? If so, its semi normal. its the screen refreshing, but you shouldn't be able to see it that obviously. Take it in to service and get it fixed before you warranty runs out, otherwise you'll foot the bill for a 2K navi screen.

Thank you for your responses everyone. I will try to take a picture or a video of what I see and then try to get your opinion and to see if it needs attention. What I see almost seems like it is intentional ... very thin /faint horizontal lines going from top to bottom only on grey "menu" screens and perfect steady screens everywhere else.

RC I know exactally what you are talking about. My 08 Type S is doing the same thing, horizontal wavy lines on the screen... at times. It doesn't always do it. I had an 06 navi and no issues. I brought it back to the dealer, only 1800 miles on her, and of course it wasn't doing it when I brought it in so no "proof" for warrantee replacement of the screen.

Mine doesn't do that, but back when i had xm with nav traffic, it would frequently 'refresh' the map display. and it would start from the bottom, and refresh in blocks from bottom right, moving left and up. but this was only in map mode, menu is ok

Okay Thread resurection!
I just noticed with my car while backing in the garage that when I'm viewing the camera there is some 'buzzing' you can see on the screen, and it varries based on rpm. Temp is probably near 80F, so it's not the 'cold' issue.
I tried to look real hard for this in the menus and I couldn't see it at all. 5bucks says I bring it to the dealer and i get a "Ya that's normal".
