i recently test drove a TL, and did the obligitory "find nearest chinese food" tests with the navi, and it worked as expected.

but i didnt test "find 123 Jones Street, MyCity, MyState" or "go to 123 Jones Street, MyCity, MyState"

Does the navi allow this voice command? can you speak an entire address and it will find it?

The TL navi does not allow this full speech to text input as you are describing. The 05-06' RL is the only current version that I know of that allows this.

any idea if this is strictly related to software or hardware within the navi system?

can i pre-define 123 Jones Street as "Work" and say "go to work" and it will pull it up?

 

I believe it is both software and hardware. The RL has a more powerful processor as well as the next generation navi (I have owned the 04' TSX, 05' TL and now the 05' RL) and only the RL can do this.

The only thing you can pre-define is the home address into the navi which you can then say "go home" but that is the only one.

 

My buddy just bought an 06 TSX and it has the additional features similar to the RL. You can actually speak an address vs type. I have an 06 TL and have to actually type in the address. I'm surprised the TL has less capabilities than the TSX now.
