Navi DVD Error message
Navi DVD Error message
My '04 TL's Navi is saying that there is an error or that the disc in the drive is not a DVD (which it is).
I have tried to clean the disc and the prescreen will come on then the legal screen but then it times out. When I press the joystick the legal screen comes back with the "OK" button but then I get that the disc is not the right one or that there is an error in reading it.
Any help on this would be appreciated. If I have to go back to my dealership (I don't care for their level of service and it is not the dealership I bought all of my TL's from. I live in another state so going back to the dealership of purchase is not possible.
Thanks again!

Is it the right version? Did it come with the car?
Did it work previously or have you made any kind of recent change (navi hack, different disc, etc)?
(Dumb questions I know. Just double checking.)

Try a force reload of the DVD startup files by performing these steps:
1. Put the keys in the car and turn it so the NAV turns on (dont need to start the engine). At the main screen of the navigation system (the disclaimer works), hold down the Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel buttons for 5 seconds.
2. Hit the "Version" button on the touch screen.
3. Hit the "Load Disc" button on the Version screen.
4. It should take about 20 seconds for your car to load the files and reboot.
If that doesn't work, you can try removing the ground to the battery for 30 seconds. WARNING: this will also erase radio settings.
Lastly, if both solutions do not work, it is time to get it inspected by the dealer.
Good luck!
