Navi Disc and new TL

If my TL was built on Jan 28th, would it have the new 3.40C or 3.40B disc.....If its the 3.40B, is there anything I can do to get the new disc for free, considering I still haven't gotten the TL.

best option would be for you to wait till u actually go pick up ur car and see what version it is...and maybe if the dealer is kewl then he might just let u swap it with another tl that might have the upgraded version...however, keep in mind that the differences aren't all that big between the two versions, so i'm not sure if u should be worried about that...

I just took delivery of my TL on January 21st. The Navi DVD is 3.40A. Was I supposed to get a later version?? Can anyone else confirm that they received a later version?

Not sure where the best place is to check what version we would have? On the Information screen you can select System Information and it shows me a version number but it's 20041119 which is not in a format like 3.4xx like you are mentioning. Is the version number on the DVD itself?

Hey...some people have gotten 3.40B by mail i think, but Alpine is in the process of releasing 3.40C, check www.acuranavi.com they have the information there.

Since I took delivery on Jan 21st and received the 3.40A version, is it possible that my dealer swapped it? Would I have any recourse if that was the case??

I hate to think that I missed 2 revisions within a matter of 10 days.

Any differences between 3.40 A - C?

I too have an 05 (delivery January 3rd) with 3.40 A. My dealer was useless when asked about the latest releases. I called ACS tonight to see if I can get the "latest", and the rep stated that there were no differences between letter revisions, the letters just represent the production date.

My question......is that BS or truth?

I am not positive, but I think dealer is the only one that has the information, unless you managed to get the build report (yellow paper) as some people on this forum have managed to.

Just a follow-up:
I contacted the fulfillment center again. This time, they stated that 3.40C revision (vs. A) gives enhancements designed for the TL and TSX. I then called ACS and requested the new disk (considering revison C was out when I received the car). They stated I would need to purchase it "we don't upgrade the DVD based on when you got the car. You get what was in it at the time" I have never dealt with any company that was so flippant about a concern of a customer, especially when there is a true product enhancement/upgrade at the time of sale! I am now waiting for a call back from a case manager.

Can I get the # for ACS from anyone? I am in the office today and don't have access to it.

Can anyone here confirm a TL build date of Jan 11 and delivery date of Jan 21 shipping with the 3.40C disc?

I wish I knew more specifics on what the enhancements were other than "shopping POE" - If they aren't that big of a deal, I will probably just wait a year and buy 3.40D.

Think about it. You think Acura dealers are going to order new navigation DVDs for all their cars in their fleet every time a new version comes out?

No. If you happen to deal with a extraordinarily nice dealership, you might get one, but you should not expect it. This is software and Acura/Alpine would take a huge loss if they did that!

Sorry to disagree, but.... Each car is sold on a 1 to 1 basis. The smart money (and logical order) would be to install the latest disk with the purchase prep of the car. The cost to Acura is not our cost (for them it is bulk cost of blank DVD). incremental upgrades are the responsibility of the vendor to fix errors in new releases. I have a Garmin naviigation system, and they supply free of charge all upgrades up to, not inclusive of, new versions (ie. not incremental fixes).

For Acura, it is a small inconvenience for good customer relations.

I agree completely. I just wanted to make sure my dealer didn't swap it out upon receipt of the car.

Last update for me than I get back to tryng have a life.
After talking to 3 different people at different times at he DVD center, these are the comments:
1. The letter revisions only reflect production date
2. 3.40 C has specific product enhancements for the TL and TSX
3. 3.40 A had the specific product upgrades for the TL and TSX, C is for Honda Hybrids.

Take the info for what it is ...confused and contradicting.

The truth is out there somewhere

I picked up my TL on Jan 27th and it had 3.40c on it so that was nice. No upgrade needed for a while. Since TL's are selling a lot recently, that is why there is a back log for those who want to order the new DVD. They are all going to new car buyers first.

I just call them and they told me that 3.40A and 3.40C is the same version.

3.40A came with the cars. and 3.40C is paid sell DVD. They said there was only upgrade from 3.3 to 3.4 and next version should be 3.5 due next year.

They said prob. they ran out of 3.40A so they had to use 3.40C to use in new cars. and NO difference between A and C.
