MY '04 TL Nav is having disc errors, cleaning doesn't help. Anyone repairing them or have a used one for sale?

 

Used ones are readily available on Ebay. You can also send them to the original manufacturer (Alpine USA) and they will repair for a flat rate. If you get one off Ebay, try to look for one from a 04 - 06 TL. They use the orange nav discs, 07 - 08 use the white nav discs.

 

Sent my unit off to Alpine. Defective PWB and another electrical component. Was repaired and returned to me in less than 7 days. $358.00.

Its most likely the DVD drive mechanism. Alpine will fix it for a flat rate. I had the same symptoms 2 years ago, sent it to Alpine in CA, its been fine ever since.

Have that issue on and off, mostly when I don't drive my car for a few days. After a few minutes of driving its back working again so not in a huge hurry to fix it. Might send it off when I go to my son's wedding in June since I'll be taking my G35.
