Which Nav to Video Conversion to buy??
I searched for the past hour reading up on both the avelectronics conversion and koslov's version. Both have pro's and con's. I'd really like the remote on the ave. one but I like the build quality on koslov's!?!?
Anyway, I just wanted to hear from people who have these units how they feel about them? Which one would YOU buy?? Are you happy about your purchase? What would you do differently??
Thanks

I would buy Koslov's, hands down. Not only is it inexpensive compared to avelectronic's unit, but the build quality looks better. He provided pictures of the inside and out and showed how there were no moving parts and minimal wiring. Although it doesn't seem to install as the one wire snip as the avelectronics one, I wouldn't think of installing it myself so it doesn't make much of a difference to me.
As for a remote, your DVD player should come with one, so you'll have one. Plus, even if it didn't (it does), I'd rather pay less for a better quality unit than more for a plastic, sloppy one.
My two cents.

I recently sent a note to VSOKOLOV about his conversion unit he said the price is now $250. During the Group buy it was only $180. The price includes FM modulator and shipping. The converter has one input, one output and a hard wired switcher (Nav to Video).
The Avelectronics unit has changed recently. I was told by the owner at AV that their new unit no longer has the TV tuner but now supports up to 4 separate inputs and 4 outputs and also includes a RF remote. (The old one was IR and from what he said and “the tuner sucks anyway”! Lots of complaints about reception.)
I am leaning towards the VSOKOLOV converter because of price only. As far as the quality of the converters, I haven't seen either of them in person but according to the pictures, I think AV's looks better. It has way more features and is easier/cheaper to install. I was also told by the owner that since the AV unit is Plug and Play it does not void your factory unit. (Don't know if this is true.)
So according to all the research I have done the VSOKOLOV is the way to go if you want to save a few bucks. If you want the extra bells and whistles and cost is not important go with AV.
Hell I think I confused myself. If my wife would let me spend the extra cash I would probably get AV’s.
Hope this helps!

my mistake on the spelling error VSOKOLOV! I was in a hurry. i agree SOKOLOV's version is the way to go. I did have some other questions though.
If I wanted to take the unit out and put the nav back to stock would that be possible??
Am I voiding my warranty?? Does the AV unit void my warranty?? (You have to splice wires for BOTH units whether it be for the fm modulation or tapping into the nav)
Can you hide the installation so that it is not noticable??
Until I buy a dvd player, I will be using my xbox for games and dvd's. Would it be possible to hook up a tv tuner while the xbox is hooked up?? When I get a dvd player, will I be able to hook up a tv tuner and xbox??
Also, I hear most people are tapping into their XM radio for the FM modulation. Is this the best solution for premium sound quality?

I have been looking at both systems. I like how you can do "plug and play" and have more options with the AVElectronics one. I want to be able to add more things in the future and would hate to be stuck with just one option. The price is pretty significant.. but I almost feel you get what you pay for. Can anyone post up their honest thoughts and opinions that actually own any of these two setups?

I have the same concern. I was about to buy the one from Vsokolov, until I thought about how it only has one input for a video source. I am planning on having a DVD player/ TV tuner and also a PS2... there is a huge difference in price so I am still pondering....

ok get and additional video switcher with tv tuner only extar $80 so you will only pay $330 for both still cheaper and much better quality than competion, what alot of people don't see is that if you look at competition pieces their video jumps.

Are you ever going to offer a "plug and play" style setup? I want something very easy to install and very easy to uninstall. Price is not a huge factor with me, I want quality and whatever seems to be the best option.
