Nav pack in Western Canada
I live in the third largest city in Alberta, which btw doesn't have an Acura dealer.
While dealing with NorthWest Acura in Calgary to purchase my car I asked if the Nav. system would display Red Deer. The answer was off course; even though I couldn't get Red Deer to show up on the Nav. System at the dealership.
So off I go back home only to find that vr. 3.4c of the Nav. disk only knows that Red Deer is on highway 2. During the trip home (150km) the major highway (#2) showed up. However a majority of the secondary highways where non existant as far as the Nav. system knew.
I talk to the dealership and they assure me the next update will PROBABLY include Red Deer!
Now that I've had a chance to drive around Alberta and British Columbia I'm totally appauled with Acura's Nav. System. It's basically useless unless your in a few of the major centers.
I was bald face lied to by the Acura dealer, which PO's me.
Secondly why is it that my $600 PPC equipped GPS and using MIO MAP software have all the secondary roads, and cities that are much smaller than Red Deer. The MIO PPC I bought has all the bells and whistle's of Acura's GPS plus MUCH more and includes ALL of North America.
IMHO Acura's GPS is a not up to the task of being called a real Nav. system.
I'm very disappointed that Acura can't be bothered to upgrade the system to include ALL of Canada.
It's looks rather stupid having my PPC GPS attached to the windshield when I just paid ~$4K for a built in Nav. system !!
Come on Acura get your pop in a group!
Other than the fit of the Acura trim package and psuedo Nav. System I must say I love the car ! No other problems so far and on the highway I get an honest 40 MPG using 94 POC and 37/38 MPG using 91 POC and I don't drive slow! I find the gas milage simply amazing given the power the car has.
