Nav Module installed!!! (With Video and Pics)

I installed the SOKOLOV nav module on Saturday. Install went very well. I took some pics for you and also a video. The video is about 5 minutes long and only about 9mb to download it and watch it. It was a 200 mb clip but I got it down to 9mb so you guys can see it. Thanks for all the people that helped me get the information I needed to install this. Here is a link that helped me with the install.

xelvix, my turn to ask you a question

If you put in a DVD which is widescreen, does it still fill the screen? Cuz when I put in widescreen movies, there are still black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

Yes there is black bars on top and bottom with widescreen format. I think that is normal. Even when I put movies that are widescreen on my home tv the black bars are there. Were you able to see the video ok? I want to make sure the link works.

How about sound? Do you need to tune to certian radio station to get sound when you play DVD since you mentioned you installed a FM modulator? Do you still get 5.1 sound? Thanks!

No you don't get sound with the FM modulator. It would sound identical to an FM radio station

Thats Awsome. The navigation screen looks like its 16:9 so most wide screen movies should have black bars. There are actually 3 different widescreen ration. Our new HDTV is widescreen and most WS dvds still have bars. On exception is mean girls. Does this squis 4:3 movies or put black bars on the sides?

I just program one of the radio pre sets to the FM modulator which is 88.3. Then I just push it and the DVD sound comes out.

One is to flip from DVD to Nav and the other is to turn off the modulator. I just keep the modulator on because it only work when I push my pre set #6 on my radio.

I know it does not look like it but the nav screen is 4:3. I never have black bars on the side or top when I am playing something in 4:3 format. I only have the black bars on top and bottom for the wide screen movies.

I thought it looked like an audiovox which suprises me when it comes to the sound quality I am hearing on your video clip. I have friends that have been installing at Circuit City and Tweeter for years now and they always get noise with audiovox modulators. However, most of the mobile video's they do come with them otherwise Tweeter will use Clarion FM modulators.

So you don't get any cracking at all? I do every once and awhile and some DVD's (older ones) seem to have a lot of static in them when playing FM modulated. I also seem to get it during high bass situations. I have found by making adjustments to the DVD settings I can eliminate most of all the noise. It was playing crystal clear when I did the install and seemed to get kinda noisier but now it's back to playing the way it use to. Strange.

Also have you noticed that if you have a Movie playing and you hit the Audio button on the Nav unit that after 2-3 mins the screen will black out. At first I thought it was something defective but it doesn't appear to be. Give it a try. Also if you have the movie ConAir throw it in and see if when the Jerry Bruckheimer intro comes on with the tree and lightning if yours cracks and pops just a little.

No I don't have any problems with the sound at all. It sounds as good as an FM channel. The bass sounds fine. Sorry I don't have ConAir but I have played probably 50 movies in it and have had no problems. I will try the audio button thing to see if it does the same. The AudioVox did come with a ground loop isolator and I didnt' ground it to the fuse box so I would not get any whine.

You did or didn't ground your FM modulator?

Ok yeah that's what I did too. You get a better ground that way.

Can sopmeone clarify one question for me?
How do you switch between video inputs with this box?

Does it automatically switch to and autodetect a video feed?
Or will I have to install a video switch somewhere to switch between the Nav and the video input?

I don't see a switch anywhere on the navi plus box.
Please help....

Thanks in advance....

This is something that almost nobody understands.
If you have a widescreen TV, then you just play the DVD in normal/full screen mode. The TV formats the picture to fit the screen. The widescreen option is not for widescreen TVs. It is for regular 4:3 TVs. It allows a regular TV to look widescreen. Therefore, if you want your 4:3 TV to look like the movies, then you select the widescreen option. Otherwise, you keep it in fullscreen mode, and the movie will be the ratio of your TV.

Widescreen TV + Normal/Full screen mode = widescreen picture(like at the movies)
Widescreen TV + Widescreen mode = very wide picure(don't want this)
Regular TV + Normal/Full screen mode = regular TV picure(normal picture)
Regular TV + Widescreen mode = widescreen picure w/black bars(like the movies)

I like what you've done. Looks good! I don't know if I would do it though, because it seems a little difficult for me to do, and it voids the warrenty.

Hi, I'm thinking of buying the navi+ module and was wondering if you have a video on the screen does the navigation system still mute the speakers to give you directions while driving? Thanks for any input.
