Converting a TL to navi is possible, but it takes hard work and dedicaiton, and as well some $$$. You can buy the parts from ebay as a kit, the username of the dude is either hondatech or acuratech. Its about 1200-2000 for the kit. Then you spend about 10 hours doing the conversion. Its pretty involved, but it can be done. Try the search feature, a few have done it recently and posted tips.

i really dont want to spend more than 1000
1200 would be pushing it.

is there a detailed write up with good pics on how this was done?
im sure i can do it but it depends on what kind of PITA itd be

It's not hard but very involved.

You've got to rip apart your interior and tap into electrical wires.

As other said, be patient and wait for ebay/craigslist to pop up and you can do it fairly cheap. Well under $1K.
