Nav DVD disc

My Navi disc is somehow being scratched and doesnt read inside the dvd unit in the trunk. I took it apart and notice a circular ring (Maybe the size of a Gold Dollar) loose but attaching to some kind of magnet inside the dvd drive. Its also problems trying to insert and eject the disc. any DIY or recommendations are appreciated.

There was a TSB for this problem.
I think you're looking at a DVD drive repair through Alpine for $358... If you go the Alpine route, I've heard that you can leave the damaged disc inside and Alpine would replace it with a new DVD.

Sadly I never got a new DVD disc, even though I sent in my navigation drive to Alpine for repair twice with my stuck orig. disc inside, no new DVD. I even tried to ask for a newer version but the Torrance Repair Center doesn't offer newer discs if the deem the orig. disc is not heavily scratched.

OP my navi drive failed due to mutliple components failing, but one of them was the disc mechanism that holds the DVD disc, it began to scratch my disc rendering it useless and I couldn't eject at all.
