Nav DVD

Hey All -- I recently purchased a TL w/nav, but it didn't come with a Nav DVD... After a long debate, I was able to get the DVD with the people I purchased hte car from, paying for it. So, I was wondering if I should go with the Fall 2005 DVD that is available now from www.acuranavi.com , or if I should wait until "Fall 2006" (whenever that may be), and purchase the upgraded DVD? Does anyone know when the new DVD's are typically released? Thanks for any insight!

It's not an Acura dealer, so they are unable to get the disk directly.. They are paying for the disk, but I'm purchasing it, and they'll be reimbursing me. I'm just curious as to whether I should hold off for the 06 disk or not.

It depends on the area. Navi DVD updates are advantageous if they update your area. Otherwise, there really isn't a difference (to you). I say, if your area has a lot of development in the last few years, wait for the update. Otherwise, just get the current DVD.

One other possibility would be that if you frequently travel to someplace that had lousy coverage but has been updated, it may be worth considering the update. I've thought about buying an update for improved coverage of Canada, but I've held off because of two road-construction mega-projects near my house that won't be done for a couple of years. No sense buying a new DVD until those are done; even though I know my way through both areas, it's annoying when the Navi gives up on the routing halfway through the construction zone. So that's something else to consider as well—if your area has a lot of new development that is still in progress, you might want to consider when the development will be done before buying the update.
