Nav conversion to DVD

I am a happy new owner of a 05 RL. Love the car already. I recently installed the usa specs ipod converted and it works great. Cost about 220 installed. The guy at the store talked to me about the nav conversion. He estimated it would cost about 1,100 bucks. Way to much for my pocket. I have read a lot of threads on the process, but the more I read the more confused I get. What product is the best value for quality and what exactly do I need to get? How much realistically should I expect to pay? Anyone in the Atlanta area have suggestions on where to get it down? I don't think I need a audio fm modulator because the usa spec already has an additional audio line available. Is that right? I was also told that the RL system works the same as the TL nav system. Don't know if that is correct either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes the usaspec is fine for an audio line in. The only other major componets you need is Dom's converter/pnp and a source like dvd player or whaterver you want. Realstically if you wanted to do the install yourself it would be around $400 depending on what source you deciede to use. The shop is raping you on the install costs, hell even the $220 installed for the usaspec was outrageous. If you must pay someone to do it I think $500 is the high end for the install, lower is achievable.

I thought I was paying to much. Unfortunatley, the only tool I know how to use is the telephone! I have read about the Dom stuff, but not sure actually what to order and how to order. I know I will need a DVD player to put in the car as well as a back up camera if I decide to put one in. Any recommendation on the player or camera?

I don't use a dvd player, I use the mediagate hard drive. So I can't tell you what is the best player to use. For the camera I just ordered my camera today, here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...2424572&rd=1,1

Not sure about the RL, you do know there is an RL forum here right? Search for DOM and you will find contact information to call them directly

It looks like you have a good head start of things.

I agree that you should post this over in the RL forum since you'll have more specific help there. I just checked and it seems that you have also created a post there.

Therefore, I will call this a . Please continue any further discussion over there.

Hopefully you'll have a lot of helpful RL members like the ones here and of course anyone here can feel free to help out in the RL forums. Theres always the search feature. If you don't receive any help over there, send me a PM and I'll reopen this one for you. Thanks!
