my Newest Mods: DVD, LED, Door, AVelectronics

Well guys here is my newest mod. Cost was just the DVD player. Labor all done by myself.

For those that have been following the progress of my car I will have a tutorial up as soon as possible.

Since joining the forum, additional mod tutorials will go up on my website are (including little previews of each mod)

1. Door Cylinder Mod

2. LED mod

3. AV Electronic Switcher w/ TV Tuner - Sorry no picture yet, but I put my antenna right next to the backup light next to the headliner.

3. Custom DVD in rear arm rest.

My next mod will be the 1/2" Din DVD player once I receive my monster cables. (Didnt want to take apart the front till i have all the stuff I want to put behind the head unit)

Yeh soon everyone will be able to do it. It was quite simple and I mean simple. It's better then paying 200 - 300 for install.

the rear arm rest install is nice, but how are you going to change DVD's while driving? also don't waste your money on monster cables, you can get the same quality cables for 1/4 the price at www.monoprice.com

Thanks for the site. Might end up saving a lot of money. The monster cables I was working out adeal to get them for $13.50 a piece for the 4m mv2cv cables. As for the DVD player

there is a sensor that I can hook up in the front for remote control access, but it is installed in the astray in the center console in the back for access by the any passengers seating in the back. My car will have 2 DVD players a 3/4" din and a 1/2" din. The 3/4 is for the back which will be used for 2 lcd headret monitors that I will be installing in the near future and the 1/2" dind is for the front just for the navigation screen. BUT, which my AVelectronics switcher I will be able to watching any of the 4 sources on any of my monitors I will have. So even though I have a DVD player in the back and the front I can watch what the people in the back seat are watching or whatever I have in my DVD player in the front. vice versa.

I.E. I will have 2 DVD players, GAME system, and TV TUNER with 2 HEADREST monitors and Navigation screen.

Each screen will indepently be able to watch any of the sources.

Very nice setup, but for me personally - it would be a bit much. I say that JUST for me. To each his own. No way will I, or anyone else be in my car long enough to enjoy a movie. I can't look at it while driving, and I won't be parked long enough to look at one. BY the time I get comfortable, it's time to go. I really want to keep more of a luxury feel or look to my car. With the ability to stand on the gas when I get ready. Nice aesthetics on the outside, but not really any major changes on the interior. I prefer to use my Sony portable, strapped to the backseat for rear watchers if on a trip (has two headphone jacks). Besides, unless you plan to keep your car, and I don't (next Type-S gen on wish list) then it may effect resale, unless you get lucky and find someone who wants all of your mods.

I do enjoy seeing all of the different things people do to their TLs though. I am sure your TL will look very nice after you finish. Good luck!

Looking good man! I love the armrest dvd player. I just don't watch movies all that much, so I just go the cheap route and bought the ava cable for my ipod.
