my cd player died

So my cd player now rejects all disks - and sterling mccall acura in houston says the cd player warranty is voided because i have in the past used burned cd's to play music...... WTF?

Anyways.... am i the first who has had this problem? I will likely just go to john eagle and just playu dumb and say it doesnt work - and i dont know why.

(im still under warranty)

lol

a burned cd doesn't kill a frickin radio... that's retarded

The CD player uses a laser to read the disc.. there's no physical contact, so I can't think of how any CD would break the thing unless the disc shattered within a player or a label fell off.. look in the owners manual; it might even say something like "can read CD-R/RW discs" etc..

that's like

I'm sorry sir, THAT compressed air isn't compatible with your tires and thus the warranty is void.

thats BS, I would call up client services and tell them about this. Have dealerships gotten much shittier lately or is it me, I have had to say client services more than 3 times today...

I just had my Head unit replaced with 5 CD in place, 2 were burned and three are DVDA's. I was trying to eject one and replace it when it just plain got stuck, then eventually shut down, inoperable ( CD unit only) I was also told the same from my Acura dealership that I am not suppose to play any burned CD's because this is exactly what happens, it jams ( BTW, none of my burned disc have a label. I got it replaced and was told that if this happens again they will not replace it under warranty. anyone out there know if there is any truth to this. Thanks in advance,
T

The head unit is capable of reading CD-Rs and CD-RWs. It is a part of the spec which Honda provides us. BTW I work for the company which make these head units.

thanks for the reply. i can only guess that they may thinking of a physical impediment such as a label that may jam? i will continue to load my other discs and we'll see what happens.

thanks again

same thing just happened in the MDX and it is all burned CD's in the player, no labels. It happened when I pushed the load button instead of the eject button with all 6 disks inside, It jammed up and now is making grinding noises with a bad disk message.
