Looking for instructions to access back of Radio/NAV to install USA Adapter for iPod

I've got a 2005 TL w/Nav & I've got my USA SPEC to hook up my ipod.

I'm looking for some instructions (similar to the master sheets Crutchfield gives you when installing a radio) in order to remove the dash and hook up the adapter for the ipod. I just completed it for my wife's car, but I knew where to unscrew & what to unplug and didn't make a single scratch.

(In short, I'm trying to make it so that I don't void the warranty) :-)

I've searched throughout the forum for some "pictorial" or "step by step" information to gain access but no luck. I'm guessing I didn't get the right keywords in the search

Does anyone know where or how I can get that info to gain access to the back of the Nav/radio in order to hook up the adapter. What panel to open, where to unscrew, etc...

Thanx

PM me with an email address, and I can email you a PDF that I put together for the install based on my experience and this forum. Haven't been able to post it yet
In the meantime you can check out the following link and search "USASPEC"

Thanx newwin96, the link is definitely helpful and the PDF file sounds good. Please send the file to dckid4life@yahoo.com

I'll do some more digging around, but its good to hear that I may only need to acess the driver side lower center console to make it happen. Thanx jptl04

I did it last weekend. My advice is to mark down where you pulled each screw from.. I didn't do that and ended up guessing where each screw came from.

You only need to take off the drivers side panel and the plug is right there at the back of the radio close to you. It took me some time and patience to get it in and if you have big fingers have somebody with smaller fingers push it in for you. (my girlfriend did it for me with a set of pliers to aim the plug).

I ended up running the cable down the side and up into the center console where I put the brains of the system. The cable was long enough to do this. I cut a small section off the corner of the plate in the bottom of the console so I could put the wire thru. From there ran the ipod cable up into the top compartment and everything looks good.

Have fun.

Guys you DO NOT need to disassemble everything as described to put in the USA Spec adaptor. It took my 20 minutes to peel the carpet down on the drivers side, get a paint can opener and pop the plug right out. You will need to put pressure on the far left (facing the WHITE plug from behind) and simply pull out. I then used a coat hanger to pull all cords under the carpet and installed the brain under the drivers seat. To put the plug back in I simply used a long flat head screwdriver and a very stiff wire hanger. Thats it! Here is a great reference:

Why risk damage by taking everything apart? This way was very easy.

Can someone PLEASE email this PDF to me as well? I just received the Peripheral Ipod adapter in the mail yesterday so I will be tackling this feat either this evening or first thing tomorrow morning. If there is a way to make this installation easier, I'm all for it!!

Good luck to install this without removing your headunit! The time you take trying to plug it in you would have already reinstall all your console parts...here's what you should follow!!!

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/f-051-diy-video-how-remove-center-console-lower-dash-glove-box-733555/

Good luck!
