Location of OEM Navi GPS Receiver?

I am building a carputer and need to find a spot to mount the GPS receiver. Where is the OEM unit located? Tried to search, but got nothing back...

Thanks.

Let me clarify - it's on the passenger side of the rear shelf, near that speaker.

(could be right or left depending on how you're working on the car...hehe)

It's above the metal, acutal mounted to the metal. You will have to lift up the plastic shelf to find it.

Has anybody tried to move the GPS receiver to under the front dash or any place else to get around the metallic tint problems. Sorry to jump on this thread, just not much talk about the GPS receiver.

It has something to do with line of sight to the satellites. Because of the extra sensitivity on newer GPS receivers, you can sometimes cover it with a thin plastic or cloth and it will still work. I don't think it will work under the dash.

I have metallic tint and don't seem to have any problems with it. definately line of sight issue.
I checked it and have had up to 7 satellites tracking at one time.
