LEDs for Seat Heater Switches

I ordered some Neo-wedge (probably knock offs as the plastic bases were pretty soft) from a seller on eBay. I purchased red and green (no amber/yellow available) for the hi/lo settings and blue for the general backlight.

As was elsewhere reported on this site, the red and green LEDs fit fine, but the blue LEDs were of a different shape and too long.

Using a Dremel with a silicon cutoff wheel, I trimmed the epoxy encapsulation down as close to the actual light emitting die as I dared. I finished off the job with a needle file, rounding the corners some. The trimmed LEDs fit OK with a bit of a push. I was afraid they might be too bright, but they're fine in car.

Maybe this will help someone else go LED in the seat heater switches.

Steve
