Is this just a GPS glitch or calibration????

When in my driveway, if I say "display current location" it's got my street, but number 1629 (1631 if in my garage). My house is 1617 (they go up by 4's) so it thinks I'm 3 houses down I guess.

I'm assuming it's just a GPS/satellite issue, but wanted to ask.

it gets a littl eincorrect because the satilites and the disk cannot get the exact locations down to the foot, it just gives a rought estimate. Also by moving the car forward into the garage, somethime the navi things you just made a U-turn or you have gone off-roading so it pulls up the nearest one.

I have the same issue, except that in my case, it's more like 20 houses up. It's clearly not a calibration issue, but rather discrepancy in the data.

I think its because the number of houses differ for each block. The navigation system maps probably have the starting number and the ending number of the block. Then it divides the block evenly to get the addresses. That's just my guess. Plus, it depends on how many satellites its connected to for the acuracy. My other garmin gps is a little off too.

thisguymo, I think you are correct. I read the manual a little last night and it said it divides the data it has. So in reality, the GPS has no idea that my street goes in increments of 4 on each house. Close enough.

It's because the street you live on isn't "digitized". I believe...and this is just an educated guess...that digitized means the database company has gone in and entered each individual house address in it's database. The manual for my Pioneer AVIC-Z1 goes into better detail on that subject. What I do know is when I enter an address on a street that is digitized, the nav system takes me exactly to the address and tells me I've reached my destination exactly. If it's not digitized, it just gets me close.
