just bought my TL last week.

Hello all, my friend told me about this site and I think it is great. I'm therefore new to this and I am not sure how it works, so I thought I would open a topic and hopefully y'all can respond. I have heard talk about customizing the navi screen and turning it into a DVD player to where you can play movies. I was wondering if this an easy task and if so or not how can I do it, can I put anything I want. Anyone want to indulge withthe new guy. I am in FL and I want to modify my navi. I also heard though that in doing this you expire you warrenty on the navi system. is this true and if so can I change it so that the dealershiop cant detect this or is there a way that the warrenty will not expire? Thanks alot this site is pretty cool i just joined and I am hoping I can learn alot about my TL and this is my first Acura and I absolutely love everything about it except when I turn it on and have to wait 30 seconds to use the navi. Is there a way to speed it up. anyone let me know what you have found out about this car.

Congrats on the car.

Please, in the future, use the search function located here: https://acurazine.com/forums/search.php

1. Yes, you can play dvds on your nav screen. Search for 'avelectronic' and you will find a ton of threads. Also, be sure to go to the 3G TL Garage located here: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84831

In the garage you will find many links to threads which discuss various navi related things.

If you check in the groupbuy section of our forums for one of our vendors who sells the conversion kit:

If you buy the plug and play unit it is very easy to install - or have installed - and you can remove it at any time so the dealer won't know you installed it. Just be sure to use an exsiting ground - don't drill a new hole for one, and then connect the power wire to the fusebox using an add-a-circuit unit that you can purcahse from most auto parts stores.

As far as warranty - the dealer cannot refuse warranty work on anything unless they PROVE that your modification caused the failure in the device. Now, keep in mind, this may be the law (can't hold me responsible of course) - but it could become a huge hassle to get a dealer to fix the navi if something happens with the units installed. On the other hand, many people, including myself, have done this mod with no problems.

No, there is no way to speed up the navi time to turn on.

Be sure to search in the future.
